Requests for Applications
Purpose
Each year the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation issues a Request for Applications for Basic or Translational Research support. The research project must be hypothesis-driven basic or translational scientific research on pediatric brain tumors. These grants are meant to expand our knowledge of the causes of pediatric brain tumors and should demonstrate the potential to advance discoveries into new treatment methodologies.
Types of grants accepted
- Seed Grants for start-up research projects
- New Pediatric Brain Tumor Fellowships
Types of Institutions Eligible
Non-profit 501 (c) 3 Institutions located in the US and Canada.
Professional eligibility:
- For an M.D., no more than five years of post-residency training as of September of current year of application; or
- For a Ph.D., no more than five years postdoctoral laboratory experience as of current year of applications.
Evaluation of Applications based upon
- Scientific merit of the research project
- Relevance to pediatric brain tumors
- Quality of laboratory environment
- Individual applicant
Term and Amount of Grants
Not to exceed, $50,000 over the period of one year
Application Deadline Date
September 3, 2007
Application Deadline Date
- One original application with 10 copies must be submitted by the application deadline, and must include a CD of the applications.
- Late applications will not be accepted after the postmarked application deadline date.
- Appendices to applications will not be accepted after the application deadline date.
Review Process
Applications will be reviewed for scientific merit by the PBTF Scientific Advisory Board. Final decisions for funding made by PBTF Board of Directors.
Follow up
All applicants will be notified of final decisions. The grant recipients will be announced in December. Applications not funded will not receive comments for recommendations from the Scientific Advisory Board. This policy will be followed without exception.
