Georgia Motorcyclist Wins Motorcycle World/Ride for Kids® Drawing

 
Norton 952 Commando – the Grand Prize for the 2005 Cycle World/Ride for Kids® motorcycle raffle.

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation®’s Ride for Kids® program, in conjunction with Cycle World magazine, is pleased to announce the winner of the 2005 Cycle World/Ride for Kids® motorcycle raffle. Joe Krewer of Watkinsville, Ga., received a phone call on May 2 from the Foundation’s staff congratulating him for winning this year’s prize: a Norton 952 Commando. Krewer’s name was selected from 11,408 entries received during the 12 Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows held between November 2004 and February 2005.

The motorcycle was donated by Kenny Dreer and his fantastic team at Norton Motorsports. This year’s raffle raised more than $51,800 to support the research and family support programs of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Krewer, an avid 55-year-old motorcyclist, was thrilled by his win. “I’m honored to be the recipient of this bike, and I can’t think of a more worthwhile cause for the raffle to benefit,” he said. Added the collector of vintage British motorcycles, “I promise you it will have a good home.”

“This kind of industry support is critical to our success,” said Aggie Alexander, executive director of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. “Thanks to organizations like Cycle World and Norton Motorsports, and to the support of thousands of motorcyclists across America, we are making progress in our battle to defeat childhood brain tumors.”

Proceeds of the raffle will go toward the medical research and family support programs of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF). Since 1984, the national Ride for Kids® program and PBTF have supported childhood brain tumor research and family support programs. Programs include free literature about brain tumors, the Helping Hand and Caring Hand national newsletters, the Informed Parent Internet Conference series and college scholarships for young brain tumor survivors. Thanks to the thousands of caring and generous motorcyclists and motorcycle dealers who have supported the program since its inception, PBTF has become the largest non-governmental source of funding for pediatric brain tumor research in the world.
