KSLX for Kids raises $56,000 for PBTF

(PHOENIX, Ariz.) The second annual KSLX for Kids Radiothon raised $56,650 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation last month.

The Feb. 20-21 event, which was broadcast live from Chandler Fashion Center in Chandler, Ariz., also raised awareness about childhood brain tumors. Several local brain tumor patients and their families shared their touching stories on air, and KSLX listeners responded with great generosity.

"Even with the hits we've taken in the housing market, the response from the Phoenix community was incredible," said Jim Owen, 100.7 KLSX program director. "Hearing those phones ring and watching the numbers grow made this radiothon one of the most rewarding experiences of my career."

In addition to KSLX and the Chandler Fashion Center, several local businesses also sponsored the radiothon. Premier sponsor Native New Yorker donated $15,000. "It is our hope that one of these years we will have a cure," said Sherri Lind, vice president of marketing and public relations. "We hope to continue our partnership and keep Native New Yorker's commitment to the kids close at heart."

Other sponsors included White Chiropractic, Western Honda, California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks Coffee, Costco, and the Wyndham Phoenix.

KSLX is continuing its online auction through March 20 at www.kslx.com, where you can bid on items such as a 2009 Honda Rebel CMX 250 and a front-row Fleetwood Mac concert package. All proceeds benefit the PBTF.
