February was a big month for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation®'s radiothon program, with events in West Palm Beach and Phoenix combining to raise over $55,000.

The first annual Sunny for Kids, sponsored by Sunny 104.3, broadcast live from Boynton Beach Mall on Feb. 11-12. The station interviewed the families of three local brain tumor survivors, Brianna, Jessica and Garrett.

Two weeks later in Phoenix, KSLX for Kids celebrated its third year by bringing in $45,000 for the cause. The event at Chandler Fashion Center was on the air Feb. 26-27, and featured survivors Rosie, Bryce, Megan, Natalee and Gaites. Scott and Mary Jo White also talked about the struggles of their late daughter, Nikki.

Allyana, a 5-year-old with a terminal brain tumor, heard the appeals on the radio and decided to donate the contents of her piggy bank. "Children with cancer should never give up hope for a cure. These children deserve every chance to live a happy, healthy life," her family said in a note that accompanied the donation.

The KSLX event continues through Wednesday, March 10, with an online auction at www.kslx.com. You can also make a donation to the PBTF at www.pbtfus.org.

Many thanks to each event's sponsors for their support. Sunny 104.3, Boynton Beach Mall, Geico of West Palm Beach, Big City Nights Florida, Mitch's Westside Bagels, and Carrabba's Italian Grill sponsored Sunny for Kids. KSLX for Kids was made possible by 100.7 KSLX, Chandler Fashion Center, Paradise Bakery, Rubio's, Subway, Villa Pizza, Starbucks, Costco, Western Honda, Eddie Bauer, The Gap, Hannoush Jewelers, Harry & David, and Steak Escape.
