Chicagoland Ride for KidsĀ®

  • Big city riders get results to match

The nation’s largest Ride for Kids® event took place for the 21st time on July 19 in Chicagoland, where more than 1,500 motorcyclists and supporters raised $309,889 for the PBTF.

It was cool and cloudy when the ride left Elgin Community College in Elgin. As the police-escorted ride made its way through rural areas northwest of Chicago, it crossed the Fox River twice.

Eleven Ride for Kids® “stars” took the stage for the Celebration of Life program after the ride. Four of the stars were current or former recipients of PBTF college scholarships. This gives hope to families of younger brain tumor patients like Teagan.

“The money you raise allows the doctors to find the medication to help Teagan,” said her mom, Carly. “Your efforts have saved my little girl’s life.”

Special guests included Dr. Jason Fangusaro of Children’s Memorial Hospital, Jerry Agar from WGN radio, and Allstate representative Steve Lam, who presented a $10,000 check.

    The No. 1 fundraisers were:

    • Individuals: Stacia and Steve Skinner, $30,789
    • Club/Chapter: Wings Over the Prairie, $70,136
    • Motorcycle Business: Nielsen Enterprises, $126,857

The grand-prize Honda motorcycle winner was April Moffa of Palatine, Ill.

This blockbuster event was made possible by the contributions of an army of volunteers, led by Vito Racanelli, Carol Sevrey, Rick Montgomery, Bob Wagner and Yarko Tymciurak.
