The 17th annual Minnesota Ride for Kids® in White Bear Lake brought together over 250 motorcyclists, volunteers, fundraisers and families of kids with brain tumors to raise $61,990 for the PBTF on July 19.
The riders and their police escort left East Century College for a scenic tour of the Washington County countryside before returning for the Celebration of Life. The program honored the achievements of seven local brain tumor survivors, including PBTF college scholarship recipients Jake and Lauren.
The crowd also heard from 24-year-old Chris, who shared his touching story about living with a brain tumor since age 5. Dr. Joe Neglia, professor of pediatrics at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, discussed research funding and encouraged the riders to think even bigger next year.
The top fundraisers were:
- Individuals: Bruce, Sandy and Justin Schafer, $9,394.09
- Club/Chapter: CMA Crosswinds #671, $9,684
- Motorcycle Business: Moon Motorsports, $13,780
Jerry Buchholz of Minneapolis won the drawing for a new Honda motorcycle.
Many thanks went to the local volunteer task force, led by Mark and Jenelle Koch and Dan and Maggie Larson.
