Jacksonville’s second Ride for Kids® raised $14,405 for the PBTF on April 18.
More than 100 motorcyclists and supporters attended the event at Florida State College. Local law enforcement led the ride through Duval County. They were accompanied by two brain tumor survivors, Hailey and PBTF college scholarship recipient Stefan.
Ted Batchelder, the event’s top fundraiser, spoke movingly of how his family’s loss has inspired him to help others. “We lost a granddaughter to brain cancer two years ago, and we make a point to attend a lot of RFK rides all across the U.S.,” he said.
Leading fundraisers were:
- Individuals: Ted and Julia Batchelder, $1,800
- Club/chapter: GWRRA FL-1V, $6,245
- Motorcycle business: Honda of Jacksonville, $4,230
Winners of the drawing prizes from Ride for Kids® premium sponsors were: Jim Waddell (Honda motorcycle), Brad Herrin (AGV helmet), and Ted Batchelder (Dunlop tire, Cardo Systems headset and Tourmaster luggage). Special thanks went to the local volunteers and task force members, led by Chris Thacker, Dave and Lee Howell, and Bill Darnell.
