More education resources
The Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER) is the home site for the Technical Assistance Alliance for Parent Centers, which has a directory for the parent centers in each state that serve families of children and young adults from birth to age 22 with all disabilities: physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning. These centers help families obtain appropriate education and services for their children, work to improve education results for all children, train and inform parents and professionals on a variety of topics, resolve problems between families and schools or other agencies and connect children with disabilities to community resources that address their needs.
The National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities website has information on disabilities, IDEA, No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities) and research-based information on effective educational practices.
The Council for Exceptional Children has a handy comparison of disability laws called "An Overview of ADA, IDEA, and Section 504."
Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation has free publications about education issues and meeting a child's educational needs.
