College scholarship program

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® college scholarship program acknowledges the unique accomplishments of brain tumor survivors. To date, we have awarded 941 scholarships.

In the 2012-13 academic year, the PBTF will fund 100 scholarships supported by our Tim & Tom Gullikson Family Support Fund and Cycle World Joseph C. Parkhurst Education Fund.

Students may use the awards to cover tuition, fees and books at any accredited post-secondary institution, including technical schools, vocational schools, junior colleges and four-year colleges or universities in the United States. (At this time, our scholarship awards are not available to graduate students.)

The College Experience
Kylie B. writes, “I have learned different skills on how to become an inspiring teacher and how to make a great impact on children’s lives. Learning all of this new information and doing all of the classroom observations has also made me realize that I want to do more than teach. By becoming an educator, I will not only be teaching students, but they will also be teaching me and help me grow as an educator.”

Vincent A. writes, “As biology major, I have taken some extremely interesting advanced biology classes. From Mechanisms of Disease to Molecular Genetics, learning about the inner workings of the body has been incredibly fascinating.  One of my favorite topics thus far has understandably been the growth of cancer in the body. Learning in depth about cancer only refuels my desire and drive to become a pediatric oncologist.”
